This page contains some links to various bits and peices that I have found useful or interesting that you might too. These are offered up as a range of things that that you may find useful, interesting or enjoyable too, but we are all different, so do not worry if they are not to your tastes, there are many other things out there!
Insight Timer
https://web.insighttimer.com/download-app
Insight Timer is a really nice app for using to time your daily practice. The benefit of this is that you can focus on your practice and not how long you have been doing it, or how long you have left. In particular, as well as setting a bell for the end of your practice, you can set interval bells, so for example, setting one after two minutes to move from breathing to asanas, one towards the end to mark when to go to savasana, and any number of ones in the middle to help you structure your practice. There is a whole library of traditional bell and chime sounds for the timer.
Each day you open the app there is also a quote to contemplate. There are also a massive range of other things available to explore for free.

Reading
You can find all sorts of things to read about yoga on the internet! (N.B. some of them are better than others – so apply a degree of critical thinking, but also be open to things which are not aligned with your way of thinking).
Yoga International has a wide range of articles here https://yogainternational.com/articles/ and many of them can be accessed free. There is also a 7-day free trial subscription should you find yourself with lots of time on your hands.
If you have any interest in finding out more about Buddhism, a good starting point is the book “What the Buddha taught” by Walpola Rahula, available in many good bookshops, or online as a PDF here: https://www.theravada.gr/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Dr_Walpola_Rahula_What_the_Buddha_Taught.pdf
Podcasts and online talks
If you can deal with youtube for listening to talks, the World Yoga Festival has a massive archive of recorded talks (and some classes) recorded from the festival and from virtual courses they have run. https://www.youtube.com/@WorldYogaFestival/videos
For more conventional podcasts, a good place to start is the US based Be Here Now network has a large selection of podcasts covering all sorts of ‘yoga-aligned’ topics. https://beherenownetwork.com/be-here-now-network-podcasts-teachers/
I particularly like:
Ram Dass – Here and Now – ex-Harvard psychologist and latterly spiritual raconteur central to the spread of Indian philosophy in America in the late 1960s and 70s.
Alan Watts – Being in the Way – a slightly earlier British and American writer, speaker, and self-styled “philosophical entertainer” with a strong interest in a range of Eastern philosophies.
If you have any interest in the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, this is a good series of lectures on the introductory text “Drg Drysya Viveka” https://soundcloud.com/vedantany/sets/introduction-to-vedanta-drg-drsya-viveka
Videos
There are LOADS of yoga videos out there on YouTube – with many different styles taught by people with all sorts of different personalities!
Two of my favourite teachers for you tube videos are:
– “Yoga with Adrienne” https://www.youtube.com/yogawithadriene
– “Yoga with Tim” (N.B. No relation!) https://www.youtube.com/c/yogawithtim
In particular, if you are looking to exend your daily practice and want to have a go at doing 20-30 minutes a day for a month, Adrienne has done a number of very good ’30 Days of Yoga” courses that start off with very low expectations and build up over the month:
Or, if you are up for something a little bit tougher, you could try Yoga with (the other) Tim who has a 30 day course. You can sign up to get emailed links to videos and an email daily here: https://www.timsenesiyoga.com/2025
There are also past ones including:
30 Day Yoga Challenge 2023 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9T0rODp2rcsFkX85vhbk7xR4F9VJH7Ga
If you were up for something considerably lighter, here is a link to a 21 day pranayama breathing course that I have previously recommended to many of you https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjYlOKEDkdwRJbkeGC8VoQ9G7pFfLP3-E
